Albury brigade station officer Alex Marschall said three fire trucks were called to Hanel Street at midnight last night.
When they arrived the bins, scattered between Kenilworth and Rau street, were well and truly alite.
Mr Marschall said the fires were concerning given similar incidents along a nearby bike track a week ago.
"It appeared as though the offender or offenders might have been travelling in a car, given the number of fires lit so quickly in such a short space. Also because there was another two bins on fire around the corner in Schubach Street," he said.
"It is definitely concerning because these people are lighting the fires indiscriminately, with no concern for other people's welfare.
"They put several cars in danger, one fire in particular was right beside a car."
Three fire tankers attended the blaze and it took one hour to extinguish the flames.
