Call it coincidence, chance or even fate, but no doubt Aidan Allan was in the right place at the right time when he saw these three elements line up last week.
The Wodonga boy was celebrating turning 12 at Kookaburra Point on Lake Hume last Wednesday, December 11 when he unearthed what he first thought to be a piece of copper pipe in the ground.
When they looked closer, Aidan, his older sister Ashleigh and brother Matt realised it was a man’s gold wedding band with the date engraved on it.
And the date was December 11.
“It felt a bit weird to find it,” Aidan said.
“It was a bit spooky,” Ashleigh said.
“It wasn’t too shiny so I’d say it’s been there for a while.
“We don’t come here that often — it was really for Aidan’s birthday — so what are the chances are finding it, and on the anniversary as well?”
The Allan family are now hoping to find the owner of the ring so they can return it.
It was found in the Kookaburra Point area of Lake Hume and is engraved with both the wedding date and the words “9ct Bridal”.
The Allans are not disclosing the wedding year at this point, so as to identify the rightful owner.
