James Lawrence Strauss, 18, of Springdale Heights was charged with aggravated burglary after Wodonga and Albury police arrested him at his home early yesterday.
Police said the charges related to a break-in at a Wilca Way home in Wodonga on Christmas Eve.
A family with young children woke on Christmas morning to find their presents missing from under their tree.
Strauss was extradited from Albury to Wodonga yesterday afternoon and he was remanded in custody overnight to appear in Wodonga Magistrates Court today.
Wodonga’s Detective Sgt Graeme Simpfendorfer said most of the presents had been recovered and police were continuing their inquiries into the second Christmas burglary at Hartwig Road.
“We expect to make more arrests in relation to it,” Sgt Simpfendorfer said.
“We appreciate the assistance of NSW police and the community.”
