THIEVES have raided a Wodonga business using a wheelbarrow to haul away tools to a vehicle waiting out in the street.
Working overnight on Wednesday, burglars cut the wire perimeter fence of Douglas Earthmoving on Gateway Island before smashing in the doors of an office and workshop area containing the tools.
The office was ransacked with nothing taken.
Detective Sen-Constable Brendan Roche said staff notified police about 7am when they arrived at work.
“They’ve done all the right things,” he said.
“It was a very secure compound.
“They secured their property but the offenders have managed to force their way in.”
The wheelbarrow and a motorbike belonging to the business were found out the front of the compound on the Stock Route.
Sen-Constable Roche said police believed the wheelbarrow was used to cart tools to a vehicle.
They also thought the thieves had intended to steal the motorbike, but were unable to start it.
Sen-Constable Roche said Douglas Earthmoving staff were still assessing the amount and value of the stolen tools.
Staff said they were unable to comment to The Border Mail, with the owner overseas.
Meanwhile, a laptop was lifted from a locked Milos Boulevard home on Wednesday between 10am and 6pm.
Sen-Constable Roche said the two incidents were unrelated.
Anyone with information related to either incident should phone Wodonga Police on (02) 6049 2600 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
