Hovell Tree market cancelled due to heat

1.04PM: The hot spell has forced organisers to cancel this month’s Albury Thursday night farmers’ market.

Organisers decided to call off the market this week after the number of producers planning to participate plummeted to less than 10.

The event, staged at Hovell Tree Park, has consisted of about 25 organic food and wine stands since starting in October.

However organiser David Saxton said concerns over the plus 40-degree temperatures hurting produce had prompted the decision to cancel the event, which was to run from 4pm to 8pm.

The market will return on February 6.
