This four-kilometre easy-intermediate walk takes you on a scenic and informative loop from the Mount Buller Village, up the north side of the mountain to the summit and back along the south side to the village. ROOM WITH A VIEW WALK, ALPINE NATIONAL PARK
A short distance from Dinner Plain, this trail is a gentle three-kilometre trek — about an hour — through snow gums and wildflower meadows, Views of Hotham, Feathertop, Bogong High Plains and the Cobungra River are spectacular. MOUNT BEAUTY GORGE WALK
This walk is upstream from the town on the west branch of the Kiewa River. Park at Big Hill Mountain bike park, off the Bogong High Plains Road. Walk south-west uphill to the aqueduct track and turn right. Follow the sign-posted track for one kilometre to a swing bridge over the river, where there is a swimming hole. Cross the bridge and proceed up the foot track, for the best views of the gorge. The 2.8-kilometre trek is a 1½-hour return walk. WALLACE’S HERITAGE TRAIL, FALLS CREEK
It’s all cattlemen, wind-swept snow gums, rugged plains and views of Mount Kosciuszko. Start at Wallace’s Hut, built in 1889 and wander the grassy trail, past the acqueduct Rover Chalet towards Cope Hut. Finish with a stroll through the heath-filled valley and back to Wallace’s Hut to watch the sunset. A six-kilometre return walk.
