But the woman, 59, was also angry it had taken 50 years — and 83 other treatments — to find some answers.
Mr O’Toole, the principal clinician at Melbourne’s Watson Headache Clinic, will work in Albury for six weeks from September 4.
He said his clinic focused its treatment on the neck where, he said, headaches and migraines originated.
“The key part is headache reproduction,” Mr O’Toole said.
“We reproduce people’s usual headaches and then we can help ease off the pain,” he said.
The clinic says 80 per cent of its clients have their normal headache or migraine reproduced using the Watson headache approach.
It says 90 per cent of those people then experience relief after treatment.
Mr O’Toole said about 20,000 people in the Border region would suffer headaches or migraines.
“About 80 per cent of them are looking for relief and most wouldn’t have had their neck assessed,” he said.
“The neck is the missing link.”
Mr O’Toole said the clinic was keen to establish itself in regional centres.
“People travel for hours and hours to be treated at the Melbourne clinic,” he said.
“When they take time off work, organise child care, and travel, it all adds to the cost.”
Clinic founder Dean Watson will launch the six-week Albury course.
