Albury Rural Fire Services Insp Charles Anderson said the fire, at 7pm, started in the paint booth of OneSteel Wire in Scholtz Street.
It caused an estimated $50,000 of damage to the plant that manufactures rural products, but it did not disrupt production with minimal superficial damage visible on the outside of the building yesterday.
Insp Anderson said investigations were continuing, but the cause was most likely not suspicious.
It took about an hour for firefighters from the RFS and NSW Fire and Rescue to put out.
