United started its campaign last week with a 1-0 win over Boomers in a high-quality affair at Glen Park.
City has had a week’s rest but has conceded nine goals in two games.
Jones said he was impressed with the touch and fitness in the team’s first 90 minutes of competition soccer.
“Generally by round four you have had a couple of runs but we were pretty happy with last week as our first game of the year,” he said.
“The way we knocked the ball around, particularly in the first 20 minutes, was exceptional.”
Jones downplayed talk United was overly physical.
“It is not a deliberate thing, we are a competitive group — that’s the way we train,” he said.
“There is nothing malicious but we will go in hard. We want the ball.”
City’s Dylan Seifert said it expected a tough and physical encounter.
“We will have to play to our strengths and move the ball around,” he said.
“Younger players on to the squad will take time to adjust but when they do, I’m confident we can rise to the challenge.”
