In the team’s first year back in division 1, Paul Spargo’s team was competitive but struggled to match the opposition’s bigger bodies in the wet conditions.
Scots School student Charlie Spargo was named the O and M’s player of the carnival after being a consistent performer in their three matches.
“We hit the lead in the second quarter, but our side was a bit lighter than Gippsland and they probably wore us down a bit after that,” team manager Jeff Chandler said.
The O and M defeated Ballarat before losing to Geelong and Gippsland.
Geelong won the title by defeating Peninsula Stingrays by one point in the final.
