Murray was two down after seven holes in the Victorians must win clash against Queensland at the end of the day before winning at the last over Jake McLeod.
The Victorians were the only undefeated team at the end of the first day with victories over the highly fancied NSW side earlier in the day.
The Victorians are on course this morning against the Western Australians who are the next most likely threat.
Murray is 1 up after four holes in his match against Kiran Day on Wednesday morning.
