Winton mates will pay their own tribute to Jack Brabham

NORTH East and Border motorsport fans will have the chance this weekend to mark the death of Sir Jack Brabham at the sport’s North East headquarters.

Historic Winton, a celebration of car racing’s past, will honour the triple world champion with a tribute.

Event’s chairman Noel Wilcox said Brabham, whose cars have appeared at Winton over the years, would be remembered.

“We will have a tribute to Jack Brabham at our meeting, but the format is unclear,” Mr Wilcox said.

He suggested it was likely there would be a minute’s silence and an on-course announcement heralding Brabham’s achievements.

Efforts are also being made to have a car with a link to Brabham appear at the event on Saturday and Sunday.
