Solicitor Mark Cronin said Robinson, of Wangaratta, had separated from his partner just days before seeing her with the other man on October 24 last year.
He pursued them in his car along Honour Avenue at Corowa, drove aggressively and at one point his vehicle touched theirs.
The other driver tried to elude Robinson and eventually went to the police station seeking help.
He drove into the private car park at the back of the station in a panic, but Robinson followed him and pulled up.
Robinson began yelling at his former partner and the man, who had locked the doors, before driving off.
When police spoke to the woman, she was upset and shaking.
The following day they were travelling in a borrowed car when Robinson chased it on foot and smashed the windscreen.
Robinson, 28, of Hardisty Street, pleaded guilty in Albury Local Court to two counts of intimidation and driving a car with intent to menace.
He pleaded guilty to contravening an apprehended violence order and causing malicious damage that involved going to his estranged partner’s residence on November 4.
Robinson pulled a security camera from its mounting.
Mr Cronin said Robinson had an ice addiction, but being on remand in jail since March 11 has enabled him to get off drugs.
Magistrate Megan Greenwood said Robinson was on a bond at the time of the driving offence.
She said the entire sequence must have been terrifying for his former partner.
“I have to send the strongest message that this will not be tolerated,” Ms Greenwood said.
Robinson was put on 12-month suspended sentences on the intimidation charges and a 12-month bond for menacing driving.
He was fined $990 each for contravening the apprehended violence order and damaging the camera.
