The trial of Stephen John Robins, 45, formerly of Corowa, concluded in Wangaratta County Court last Friday after more than a week.
Robins had been charged with culpable driving following the two-car crash on the Barnawartha-Howlong Road on February 9, 2010 which led to the death of Wodonga man Andrew Powell, 24.
The jury of seven women and five men found Robins not guilty of that offence, but found him guilty of the lesser offence of reckless driving causing death.
The court had heard Robins was returning home to Corowa and Mr Powell was travelling in the opposite direction, on his way home from Uncle Tobys in Wahgunyah, when the crash occurred about 3.30pm.
Robins’ white Commodore travelled into the wrong lane while failing to take a left-hand bend near Doolans Road and Fleggs Road, and struck Mr Powell’s red Toyota.
The court had heard evidence from a witness who said Robins had been driving erratically.
He will reappear before the court on June 16 for a plea hearing.
