Officers issued an arrest warrant for Ambrym, 29, eight days ago, but he had avoided police.
It is alleged he assaulted the girl at her home on June 21 during a break-in. Sgt Caroline Epstein said several officers had arrested Ambrym at a home in Kurrajong Crescent, West Albury, about 4pm yesterday.
“We received several tip offs since the story was put in the media,” she said.
Sgt Epstein said it was unclear if the public information had directly led to his arrest.
Ambrym was refused bail to appear in court today.
