Cromb, 52, of St James, near Yarrawonga, made a brief appearance yesterday and Director of Public Prosecutions representative Rennae Gee said a partial police brief of evidence had been prepared.
But it was anticipated a forensic report, along with a post mortem outcome, could take two or three months.
Solicitor Mark Cronin said it was important to get the results from the division of analytical laboratories in Sydney.
Cromb has been charged with the manslaughter of Troy Wetmore, 35, in April.
The court had previously been told during a bail application that Cromb unknowingly ran over Mr Wetmore after they fought briefly.
Police allege there was a brief fight on a farm between Holbrook and Culcairn owned by Mr Wetmore’s father.
The younger man was knocked down in the alter- cation.
It is alleged Cromb got in his car and drove around the house to park it, unaware he had run over Mr Wetmore.
Cromb went inside to tell Mr Wetmore’s father about the fight.
When they went outside, they found Mr Wetmore had died.
Magistrate Tony Murray ordered further evidence be served by September 15 with the case adjourned to the following week.
