Brave Hearts president Jenny Black said the club’s donation came from the proceeds of a pink lunch at the club last month.
“The Hoppers have been one of Brave Hearts’ loyal supporters for the past eight years,” she said.
“The proceeds from luncheons Debbie Kent and her hard-working committee and wonderful sponsors have organised over the past four years have been invaluable and have undoubtedly assisted Brave Hearts to fund their many projects, providing services and support to people in our region affected by a cancer diagnosis.”
Mrs Black said the Brave Hearts’ book aimed to instil hope and positivity among people newly diagnosed with cancer, who would receive it for free.
She is compiling the book with Brave Hearts vice-president and Aljoy photographer Suzy Watson.
“The book is so special and so very close to completion but we are needing just a couple more participants to ensure we have covered as many types of cancer as possible,” she said.
Mrs Black said cancer patients faced an emotional, stressful and confusing time when diagnosed and the aim of the book was to provide examples of local people who have turned those fears and emotions into a journey fuelled by courage and a positive attitude.
