But he’s happy to admit the Saints are glad they’re at home.
The fierce rivals will face off in a final for the first time in decades on Sunday after Tocumwal joined its former Murray league sparring partner in the Picola league this season.
“I’m sure it might be a little advantage being at home but having said that, our ground is probably a similar size to theirs,” Russell said.
“They flogged us last time. We’ll definitely be underdogs.”
Russell, who said he’d “hate to guess” the last time the clubs met in a final, also said last week’s elimination final win over Blighty had given the Saints confidence.
Jerilderie and Strathmerton will fight for flag favouritism in the second semi-final, with the winner going straight into the grand final.
