Judge Martin Blackmore issued the warrant after confirming a conviction and disqualification period for Tamas Istvan Beregszaszi.
Beregszaszi, 26, of Bilba Street, was sentenced by magistrate Tony Murray in Albury Local Court on June 16 on charges of disqualified driving and middle-range drink-driving.
Mr Murray said Beregszaszi had a terrible record with a litany of driving offences when imposing a seven-month jail term, with a minimum of four months to serve, and a four-year driving ban.
He was granted appeal bail with his case listed for mention in the District Court in Albury on the first day of the present sittings on August 11.
When he failed to attend, a notice was sent to Beregszaszi indicating the matter was listed for yesterday.
He was driving a gold Calais with Victorian registration when stopped by police in Atkins Street, South Albury, about 1.04am on April 5.
When asked to produce a licence, he said: “I don’t have it. I have a proof of age card that has the same number.”
He admitted consuming his last drink of alcohol about 30 minutes earlier.
Beregszaszi had drunk four cans of Jack Daniel’s at a friend’s place from 9.30pm and two pints of heavy beer at a nightclub.
A breath analysis gave a reading of 0.087, his licence was suspended and he declined the opportunity for a doctor to take a blood sample.
His Queensland licence was disqualified from March 14 this year.
