Unfortunately it got lost in the 1960-70s when the Liberals of the world held a meeting in Lima, Peru, attended by the heads of the biggest of corporations.
Government reps from all of the major industrial countries, including Australia, world bankers and representatives of the United Nations.
At this meeting all of the countries decided to move all of their manufacturing industries to Asian countries with not a worry about how it was to affect their own citizens.
This was probably touted as a means of helping the poor Asian countries and undoubtedly it worked well with South Korea.
The fact poor Asian workers would only be paid a fraction of industrial country wages probably influenced the decision.
I used to wonder why we were fighting in Vietnam and afterwards sending billions of dollars in foreign aid, much of this from the taxes on the wages of Australian workers and those of the other countries affected.
The whole purpose has been to try to break the trade unions and this is still taking place with royal commissions and every device the Liberal Party can think of being used, including standing down workers and rehiring on lower contracts, using foreign workers and hiring people on a few hours a week pay.
Tony Abbott said at a recent meeting that Wesfarmers had provided jobs for 200,000 new workers, but he didn’t mention that they were mainly in Asia.
If this is democracy, God help the world’s workers, because the Liberals and conservatives are there to help themselves and their masters — the big corporations who own them.
The Liberal Party blames Labor for the budget crisis but is a legacy left by the Liberals.
