Glenn Robert Bridgett, 44, of Jacaranda Street, appeared for sentencing in Albury Local Court on two theft charges and entering inclosed lands.
One of the theft matters involved property valued at more than $15,000 and another item valued between $5000 and $15,000.
Magistrate Tony Murray said he had considered a suspended sentence, but said it was inappropriate and Bridgett was deemed suitable for the intensive corrections order.
Police received a complaint on February 27 about thefts from a Walla business, including a ride-on mower.
A horse float was taken from the St Paul’s College Equine Centre.
It was valued at $25,000 and contained $10,000 of equipment including a specialised tack box, kitchen, fridge and microwave. There was a large amount of riding equipment including two saddles, bridles, rugs, spurs, bits and brushes.
An investigation by police revealed a Toyota Tarago was captured on closed circuit footage in the township.
Police managed to get the registration and went to a house in Jackling Drive at Lavington.
An accomplice of Bridgett was later interviewed and made full admissions about the thefts.
Bridgett also admitted taking part.
He told police he was just trying to make a bit of quick cash.
A total of $10,040 compensation was being sought for items which were not recovered and Mr Murray ordered Bridgett to pay $5020.
He was fined $300 on the charge of entering inclosed lands.
