About a dozen officers raided a home at Cribbes Road, Wangaratta, and a house at Winton last Wednesday.
The Wangaratta home contained stolen property including a trailer and power tools, while the Winton home had five firearms, a cattle crush, chainsaw, motorbike, trailers, air conditioning units and building products.
Police estimate the property to be worth $60,000 to $80,000 and have traced items to thefts from across the North East.
Detective Senior Constable Paul Campbell said owners had been identified for most of the property, which was reported stolen in areas including Mansfield, Wangaratta and Benalla.
“It’s a major raid,” he said.
“It’s especially positive to get the guns off the street.
“Any stolen gun that we recover is a bonus.”
Police believe the items in the two homes are linked and continue to investigate the matter.
A 33-year-old man was arrested at the Wangaratta home and will reappear at Wangaratta Magistrates Court on September 11.
