The Border young gun, 14, has been selected in the national under-17 girls squad of 23 to compete in three Asian Cup qualifiers in Malaysia.
Australia will take on Vietnam, Hong Kong and the Korean Republic for the right to compete in the Asian Cup.
Cartwright, who already plays seniors at Boomers in the Albury-Wodonga Football Association, flies out of the country on Monday.
Australia’s first match is on October 4.
“It’s all pretty exciting,” Cartwright said.
“I’m rapt to be in the squad, because this group is known to be one of the strongest ones to come through in a while.
“Hopefully I can get into the starting side and go from there.”
The young striker, who can also play in the midfield, was one of the stars for the Country NSW team that won the title alongside fellow Border guns Chelsea Blissett and Claire Mahoney.
Cartwright, who has starred at club level despite her age, is already on the radar of several
W-League clubs.
