The four-bedroom, four bathroom split-level home in Gould Avenue, West Albury, cost more than $1 million and took 12 months to build.
Master Builders Association of Victoria chief executive Radley de Silva said the home was a fine example of quality workmanship and building excellence.
Mr James was named the regional master builder of the year in residential work before more than 580 guests at Crown Palladium in Melbourne.
The award was presented to him by Victorian Planning Minister Matthew Guy at the Master Builders Excellence in Housing Awards.
The three living room home was lauded for beautiful finishes.
Sitting atop a hill, the house has commanding views of Albury and Woodnga and features what the was described as a “sublime” infinity edge pool and pool house, a second kitchen and a six-car garage.
“The Queensland resort-style home loved by the owners was successfully transferred to their regional Victorian border setting by Scott James Builder,” Mr de Silva said.
“The quality of finishes and attention to detail are outstanding and well deserving of the top honour.”
Mr de Silva said Scott James Builder exemplified the spirit of the annual awards, which were into a 36th year.
“Scott James Builder has been recognised for being at the top of their game, delivering a tremendous home that well exceeded client expectations,” he said.
The Gould Avenue house was named the top North East residential project at a Master Builders awards night in June.
The following month the project won the overall domestic builder of the year award.
The home was recognised also for the best new bathroom, best swimming pool project, and best contract/project home over $1 million.
