The 21-year-old says clearing the 32-metre high silo was all about accuracy, favouring a drop punt.
Flagg grew up 10 minutes away at Ardlethan, and said it has been handy for his bank balance.
“I picked up $2100 last year because it was the 21st year and $1500 this year,” he said.
“The money went into my pocket, not on the bar — I did enough drinking after the footy season.”
Flagg survived two preliminary rounds before clearing the silo with his second kick to deny eight-time winner Rob Harper.
“It’s mostly about accuracy, picking the low point of the silo to go over,” he said.
“A lot of people go for the torpedo but I find it’s easier with the drop punt.
“I stuffed up the first kick in the final and the other bloke clipped the back of the silo on the way down.
“But I got it right at the second attempt.”
