Lambert stood down as coach of the Hoppers after it became apparent they couldn’t make the finals, believing he didn’t have the full support of the board.
The Hoppers played the remainder of the season under Lambert and finished in seventh spot as they endured a horror season with injuries with a number of prime movers being cut down.
“I’m the same as I’ve always been, retired,” Lambert said yesterday.
“Not at this point, (I haven’t reconsidered) no.”
It is believed Lambert has been approached by Wangaratta, Wodonga Raiders and other district clubs.
“You name it, they have rang, country, O and M, the whole lot, it’s not where I’m at at the moment,” he said.
Lambert said at this stage he was still not keen to coach in 2007.
Meanwhile Yarrawonga has cut their list of candidates to six to fill their vacant coaching position, with former coach Peter Seymour believed to be in the running to take over from Bob Craig.
“Peter is one, there is probably about six interviews, there is a bit to happen yet before we come up with a designated hitter,” Pigeons president Glenn Brear said yesterday.
Brear said the Pigeons had not spoken to Lambert about filling their vacant coaching position.
The Pigeons new mentor will have a tough job to hold the star studded playing list together and Brear knows the importance of the appointment.
“We’ve got a pool that we’re going through, by the time that we finish, we mightn’t be happy,” he said.
“We’ll go through, and then the sub committee will report back to us and we’ll determine whether that meets the criteria.”
Axed Sydney Swan Adam Prior could return to North Albury after being told at last Friday’s best-and-fairest that his position on the rookie list would not be renewed.
Prior was a star with the Hoppers as a 17-year-old and dominated the TAC cup with the Murray Bushrangers, but wasn’t drafted, and was then granted a position on the Swans’ rookie list.
