Cr Jackson, the brother of basketball superstar Lauren, will be unveilved as the Labor candidate at a press conference in Albury this morning.
He was elected to Albury Council in 2012.
“I was asked by the Labor Party If I would be their candidate," he said.
"After careful consideration and discussion with my family and close friends I have agreed to stand."
Mr Jackson, who is a rail safety expert, said his decision had been influenced by the lack of vital transport infrastructure the NSW Liberal government had failed to put into the Albury electorate.
