As she heads back to school next week, Denique has plans for the future no different than any other teenager, except for some changes made after losing her left leg above the knee.
She wants to return to snow skiing and dancing after she is fitted with a prosthetic limb and, while she’s not thinking she’ll be up and mobile straight away, her focus is on getting moving as soon as possible.
Denique doesn’t want to dwell on the details of the accident that took her leg; instead she’d prefer to look to the future.
A visit while she was in hospital by paralympic swimmer Sam Bramham has given her hopes of returning to sporting life as active as she was before the accident.
Meanwhile, the community at Yarrawonga and Mulwala has raised $8000 towards her prosthesis and the Mulwala Water Ski Club is urging other groups and individuals to get behind Denique to ensure a young woman whose response has been so outstanding is helped to achieve all her dreams.
