THE NSW election campaign is in full swing with a visit to Albury by NSW Deputy Premier Troy Grant to announce a funding boost for the upgrade of Urana Road Oval.

Mr Grant’s announcement of $228,000 towards the project from the NSW licensed clubs grants program may see work begin earlier than expected.
The redevelopment will include the construction of changerooms and toilets for men and women and a canteen, all facilities that have been needing replacement for some time.
In the past the changerooms have been regularly flooded in wet weather and players are forced to stand on seats to get changed.
The NSW government commitment is in addition to $600,000 provided by Albury Council, $383,000 worth of in-kind support from the Murray Magpies Football-Netball Club and New City Cricket Club, as well as a $150,000 interest free loan.
The clubs are also hoping to convince the AFL and Cricket NSW to each provide $50,000 for the project.
A start date for the works will be discussed by the clubs and the council next week to ensure a minimal disruption to the football season but once completed, it will be widely welcomed.
