Graeme Wall, of Australian Music Events, said for those who had never been to an Opera in the Alps, the January 2016 concert was one not to miss.
“We are celebrating 20 years of glorious music in glorious places with family, friends and work colleagues,” Mr Wall said.
“The 20th year concert will be a celebration of what all started on top of Mt Buffalo in 1996 with 100 people in the machinery shed behind the chalet listening to a choir of 85 and featuring the celebrated pianist Stephen McIntyre and compered by ABC personality Terry Lane.”
The concert was relocated to the slopes of Dingo Dell ski field where the numbers grew each year with an orchestra and leading Australian opera singers.
In 2002, it moved again to La Trobe at Beechworth due to the increased number of patrons and after chalet hosts Dean and Gillian Bell moved to Tamworth. Audience numbers were reaching about 4000.
After the sale of La Trobe at Beechworth, Opera in the Alps was relocated to Baarmutha Park in Beechworth.
The 2016 concert will return to Beechworth Golf Course after it was moved there for the first time this year.
“The golf course venue has attracted a very large interest and numbers this year were again around 4000,” Mr Wall said.
Other leading artists in the 2016 line-up are soprano Greta Bradman, grand-daughter of Sir Donald Bradman; and conductor and MC, Guy Noble; together with Opera Scholars Australia; the Alpha Sinfonia Orchestra and the Opera in the Alps choir.
“There will also be a special audience participation item,” Mr Wall said.
Tickets are available from Beechworth Visitor Information Centre from July 1 on 1300 366 321 or beechworthonline.com.au.
