The Albury hairdresser was named a finalist in three of the 12 categories including best small business.
The hotly-contested best-new-business category saw hospitality, accounting, consulting and yarn businesses move through to the final round on October 12.
Hideout Cafe Wodonga’s Kate Bullock said she was stoked to be successful at the awards’ penultimate round for best new business.
“It’s very exciting,” Ms Bullock said.
“We were up against eight or more businesses, so knowing it was a very large group, I’m very excited to be in the final four.”
The co-owner opened the cafe two years ago with partner Dan Yassin, a chef.
She said they both had ideal backgrounds to open a hospitality business.
“We were just really keen to open our own business and we knew a cafe was playing to our strengths,” she said.
“Dan has 16 years’ experience as a chef and my background is in sales and marketing.
“It’s been a massive learning curve for our business.
“I’ve very much enjoyed the process of learning and we’ve looked to a lot of other businesses for best practices.”
The Cube function room was packed for the evening with representatives from the nominated businesses clearly enjoying themselves.
Hollywoods Pizza Bar, D A Signs, Rehabilitation Outcomes and Lola Wigg all made it through to the final round for best small business.
The best medium business category will be fought out by Kiewa Valley Engineering, Milspec Manufacturing Pty Ltd, Mr Stoves Pool World and Ettamogah Rail Hub.
In the heavyweight division for best large business a winner will come from The Personnel Group, Twin City Truck Centre, Dysons Bus Lines and Mountain H2o Pty Ltd.
The winners of each category will be announced at a gala night at the Albury Entertainment Centre on Friday, October 12.
