Clements, 49, faced court for about a minute yesterday morning.
Wearing prison greens, he was brought into court by Corrective Services officers.
He appeared disoriented and moved slowly.
Clements was represented by duty solicitor Rohan Harrison.
Bail was not applied for and was formally refused.
No evidence about the case were presented to magistrate Erin Kennedy.
Mr Harrison told Ms Kennedy the court’s clinical nurse consultant, Jayne Ross, had seen Clements about a Justice Health notification.
Mr Harrison asked that a brief of evidence be served on the Legal Aid Commission.
Members of Clements’ family were not in court for the brief mention.
Ms Kennedy ordered the Director of Public Prosecutions serve the brief by July 8 and adjourned the case until July 22 for the Commission to reply to the brief.
Clements is accused of murdering his father at his Springvale home on Wagga’s southern outskirts.
About 12.20pm Tuesday police were called to the home on Springvale Drive after reports a man had been injured at the property.
Wagga police found the body of Roger Clements, who had suffered head injuries.
A crime scene was established at the home, which was examined by forensic specialists and detectives.
The death occurred in the back yard of the dead man’s home, with his wife and other family members present.
David Clements was arrested at Cootamundra railway station about 2.45pm after being removed from the XPT passenger train bound for Sydney.
