BORDER triathlete Nathan Rodgers will fly to Europe tomorrow hoping it will be the start of a journey that sees him turn professional.

The 18-year-old will compete in the Italian Grand Prix series for the Dimensione dello Sport in Milan for the next four months.
It will mean full-time training blocks with the team, racing domestically and with an opportunity to be part of an elite squad that travels to international competition.
“It’s a great opportunity to train and race as a full-time professional,” he said.
“The goal is to race in some of the bigger triathlons and then be picked for the international races.
“I think I should be picked, it is more likely that I will than won’t.
“The team looks after everything, meals, travel, accommodation it was just to good an opportunity to give up.
“In a perfect world I will come back to Australia and turn professional.”
