Albury-born barrister turned author Charles Waterstreet was on his feet in the Supreme Court "not going well" when he found out the portrait of him painted by Nigel Milsom had won this year's Archibald Prize. "I was going really badly and I got a bang of SMSs that was extraordinarily uplifting," he says. Waterstreet then rushed out of court to embrace Milsom at the Art Gallery of NSW.
