The bus, which was transporting students from Perth’s Helena College, appeared to have been travelling on the wrong side of the Kiewa Valley Highway when it hit the car at 3pm.
The impact caused the car to turn onto its side, leaving the occupant pinned by her legs.
Emergency services were working to free the woman aged in her 40s to transport her to hospital on Friday night.
The Kiewa Valley Highway was closed between Speers Lane and Dederang Road after the crash.
It’s not known why the bus was on the wrong side of the road.
Police are seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident.
CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story said the affected bus and school was St Helena College in Melbourne. This was incorrect, the change has been made and The Border Mail apologies for any stress caused.
