Benalla 2021, which will be launched in February next year, will bring together local businesses and people from the community to develop a targeted plan for creating jobs.
Cr King said his vision for Benalla was to have a diverse and sustainable economy where the city was not relying on a few large employers.
“We want to create a place where people are confident they will be able to find work in their own community,” he said.
Council will formally invite people to participate in the development of a plan over the next six months. A final proposal will be put before council in February next year.
