THE Wangaratta Art Gallery will host the historic Marianne Gibson quilt until August 9. The quilt, made by Marianne Gibson of Wangaratta between 1891 and 1896, is of national and cultural significance. The “crazy patchwork” was a style of quilting popular between 1876 and the 1920s. It uses irregular pieces of often fabric in asymmetrical ways, involving embellishments such as ribbons, button and embroidery.
