AMELIA Ghiggioli has won a scholarship to attend the Melbourne Royal Show after her performance at the Stud Beef Victoria annual cattle handlers camp in Bendigo.

The St Paul’s Walla, student was attending the camp for the first time and finished a very credible third overall in the champion judging class.
More than 100 cattle handlers attended the event, which as been running since 1988.
“There’s a good appetite for young people to work in the industry, so by educating them on preparing their stock for show and sale we are keeping young peole in the industry,” camp chairman Gary Turnham said.
Mr Turnham said the camp, run during the June school holidays, provided training on how to prepare and groom stud stock but the handler’s competition allowed participants to finesse their skills.
“While the camp focuses on education, the competition is fiercly competed and incredibly strong,” Mr Turnham said.
“We have some very good talent coming through.”
