Jaymie Plas opened the scoring before United’s Chloe Jones levelled the scores at 1-1 with a great strike from a penalty corner.
With scores locked at the break, Norths continued to apply pressure through very good team play led by the creative Brooke Purtell.
Purtell scored one and Janessa Leggatt two in the second half, to help Norths to a dominant 4-1 victory.
United fought the game right out until the end, but will welcome back some key players to consolidate the minor premiership.
Best for Norths were young defender Quinn Reid and hard working midfielders Purtell and Leggatt.
While best for United were defender Tanya McGrath, Georgia Bartlett and striker Britanny Rosewarne.
In other women’s games, Falcons beat Magpies 2-0 and Wodonga beat the Wombats 4-2.
In the men’s league, United had a 4-0 win over Norths, with Tim Jones on fire.
United led by just a goal at halftime, but the pressure started to take its toll on the bottom-placed Norths.
In the final 15 minutes, United scored three more goals, with Jones finishing with two, while Matt Sawyer and Jarrod Ambrose also scored goals.
United was best served by midfielder Jones, Sawyer and Matt Lumby, while Norths’ best were defender Jordan Thorneycroft, Andrew Wilkes and Jeremy Payne.
In other men’s games, Falcons drew 1-1 with the Magpies and Wombats beat Wodonga 4-1.
