THE HOOK - Fish don't care about the weather

Lake Hume: it might be cold and wet, but the trout in the weir are still on the bite – have a look at the photo this week, and there’s more where that came from.

Some rainbow trout were also caught in a spot in Lake Hume where the fishos were fishing for redfin – they got 12 good reddies and five trout, one of which went 5lb.

Khancoban Pondage: some nice trout have been caught in the past two weeks, just trolling around with your lures, tassies and baits.

The best times to fly fish have been dusk, dawn and after dark with wet flys.

The redfin are also there to be caught – last year some went 6lb, so it will be good to see what this year holds.

Lake Eildon: again some nice trout were caught in the lake and pondage. The pondage has just been stocked with big trout, and the lake is yielding fish using rapalas (spotted dog) for brown trout and tassie devils rainbow trout. Good feeds of 1.5lb rainbows and 2-4lb browns are being caught.

Lake Dartmouth: the trout were small but fat and good for a feed. They are being caught in 10-15 feet and trolling with lures and baits, including a couple of 3lbers in 45 feet on tassies.

Kids keep those photos of your fish coming and don’t forget if you get a trout in Lake Hume, the 6lb and over trout trophy is up for grabs until the end of October.
