Now in its third year, the annual community planting and environmental education day aims to involve the neighbourhood and showcase the work being done to ensure the population of threatened Squirrel Gliders, Sloane’s froglet and other wildlife not only survives but thrives into the future.
Event organiser Richard Ahearn manages a network of l900 hectares of bushland in and around Albury specifically for conservation of wildlife.
“Over the last couple of years we’ve had about 100 people come along, meet the staff, have walks and talks with ecologists who specialise in local fauna and flora, enjoy the free BBQ, and plant some shrubs”, he said.
Organisers have 700 seedlings to be planted on the day, which kicks off at 10am.
