Dr Roland von Marburg told The Border Mail he won his appeal against the surgery ban with the handing down of a decision by the NSW Civil and Administrative Appeal Tribunal.
The Medical Council of NSW had made a ruling against the ear, nose and throat surgeon in late March, ordering that he could not carry out “any surgical procedure in an setting, including the practitioner’s rooms or hospital”.
Dr von Marburg said this was overturned by the tribunal in what was “a great victory for justice”.
But the council said Dr von Marburg still faced various modified conditions to his registration.
A spokeswoman said this included a ban on him undertaking any surgical procedure involving the ear canal, middle ear, mastoid or inner ear, with the exception of minor medical procedures stipulated by the tribunal.
Dr von Marburg must submit to audits of his medical practice.
He must also successfully complete a course dealing with sinus surgery on an annual basis.
