Albury surgeon still restricted
A BORDER medico will still have some limitations on his surgical work, despite saying he has won an appeal.
Dr Roland von Marburg told The Border Mail he won his appeal against the surgery ban with the handing down of a decision by the NSW Civil and Administrative Appeal Tribunal.
The Medical Council of NSW had made a ruling against the ear, nose and throat surgeon in late March, ordering that he could not carry out “any surgical procedure in an setting, including the practitioner’s rooms or hospital”.
Jail for firearm threat
An Albury woman who pulled out a sawn-off shotgun to threaten her partner suffered horrific abuse as a child, Albury Local Court has heard.
Kathleen Miller was choked, bashed and even thrown down stairs in a devastating pattern that continued into her adult years.
On Monday, she was jailed for 13 months for a crime the court heard was in retaliation for ongoing abuse from her partner.
Father Peter MacLeod-Miller supports marriage equality
FORMER MP Sophie Mirabella laughing at her wedding with Prime Minister Tony Abbott and former speaker Bronwyn Bishop is the image that is hoped to gain support for marriage equality.
St Matthew’s Father Peter MacLeod-Miller hung the posters of the politicians around Albury on Tuesday.
The poster reads “all in the family – politicians against marriage equality working together for a fairer Australia?”
Father MacLeod-Miller hopes to drum up support for marriage equality within other churches on the Border.
Albury won't sanction Elliott Powell despite Dederang drama
ALBURY young gun Elliott Powell is likely to escape club sanctions, despite his decision to play for another club on Saturday.
The Tigers say they were unaware Powell had played for his former club Dederang-Mount Beauty in the Tallangatta league reserves, until reading it in The Border Mail on Monday.
