Tourism visitation numbers for the Murray River have recorded a substantial jump.

Latest statistics reveal there were 5.7 million visitors to the region in the 12 months to March.
That is a combination of both domestic and overseas tourists and represents a 12.8 per cent increase on the previous year.
Further, visitors spent 8.7 million nights in the Murray River region, a 6.4 per cent increase.
The figures come from Tourism Research Australia’s national visitor survey.
The total spend by domestic visitors was an estimated $1.2 billion, which translates to an average of $154 a night.
Murray River Tourism chief executive Mark Francis congratulated operators for their contribution.
