During the roadside drug testing operation conducted by Albury Local Area Command on Friday and Saturday, 19 people returned positive drug readings.
A total of 107 random drug tests and 116 mobile breath tests were administered throughout the two day operation.
Inspector Scott Russell said police are “very concerned” by the large number of drivers testing positive to drugs.
“The message is very clear - driving under the influence of drugs can be deadly,” Inspector Russell said.
“Officers remind motorists that driving under the influence of prohibited drugs is not only illegal, it is immeasurably irresponsible and dangerous.
“Drug testing operations will continue and police will go on targeting drivers under the influence to try and avoid any further loss of life on our roads.”
Drivers who tested positive to drugs were issued 24 hour driving prohibition notices.
Police may take further action against drivers following the analysis results.
