RSPCA held its official Cupcake Day on Monday to fight animal cruelty and spread the message about how to look after animals.
Albury branch information centre co-ordinator Kate Fiedler encouraged people on the Border to hold a Cupcake Day in August to raise money for the organisation.
“Locally it will go towards our desexing program, helping people pay for desexing, microchipping and also animal registration,” she said.
Ms Fiedler said the Albury RSPCA hoped to reduce the amount of animals that could be potentially dumped by owners in the future.
“And we want to get out messages about animal cruelty,” she said.
Ms Fiedler said the Albury RSPCA was also hoping Cupcake Day would encourage more people to volunteer at the shelter and due to a shortage in helpers, the RSPCA was unable to keep many animals in care.
People can register for Cupcake Day at www.rspcacupcakeday.com.au.
