Jae Heslop, of Churchill in Gippsland, pleaded before Wodonga magistrate Ian Watkins to the robbery and committing an indictable offence whilst on bail.
Charges of theft of a motor car, assault with a weapon and possessing a controlled weapon were withdrawn by the Department of Public Prosecutions.
Heslop was remanded in custody and ordered to face the Wodonga County Court sitting from October 19.
His demeanour was relaxed compared to his first appearance on the matter on April 17.
At that time, Heslop bleated like a sheep, waved his arms and swore as the court was told he may have been in a drug psychosis.
The court was told Heslop had asked a taxi driver "you have family?" before producing a knife, holding it near his lap and asking the driver to leave the vehicle.
Heslop was later arrested at a service station.
