Chapman ended the day chaired off by triumphant team-mates as the Saints recorded their fourth win of the season.
But they couldn’t avoid the wooden-spoon with Wangaratta Rovers causing one of the shocks of the season by downing flag favourite Albury.
The Saints took control in the second term when they turned a one-point quarter time lead into a five goal lead at long break.
Myrtleford refused to let the Magpies back into the match and held a match-winning 48-point win at the last change.
Chapman was pushed forward late in search of a career-first goal, but couldn’t complete the fairytale.
The Saints had stars in co-coach Brad Murray, Matt Dussin, Kristin Height, Mitch Dalbosco and Christian Burgess, who subdued Pies’ star Jamie Allan.
