Tuesday night’s premiere of Restoration Australia on ABC TV will show that Mr Carnegie’s plan to transform the ruins into a four-bedroom family home was worth the effort.
Keith Hall, built in 1885, is the star of the episode as host Sibella Court follows the restoration progress over a two-year period.
Mr Carnegie describes himself as a “compulsive restorer” having worked on furniture, antiques and other houses in Australia and Canada for 35 years.
He worked by himself on the project, taking his time to restore each stone and meet his vision.
