After Federal ran over the Blues in last weekend’s qualifying final, Spencer said that Cudgewa lookd out on their feet during the final quarter.
“It looked like Cudgewa could have done with another week off, they missed a bit of the run that the Swans had,” Spencer said.
“The whole game felt like it didn’t have a lot in it, considering they were playing off for a spot in the grand final.
“We’ll take a level of confidence out of that, our younger players can give us a lot of run.”
Despite his opinions on last Saturday’s match, Spencer declared the Blues to be “warm favourites” ahead of the match.
“They’ve been the best side all year,” Spencer said.
“I don’t think they’ll change a whole lot about the way the play, their skills through the middle of the ground are exceptional.
“They have plenty of ball-winners, and they’re big on their midfield rotations, which will hold them in good stead as the weather warms.
“I’m not sure if they were just a bit flat against Federal, but we’re expecting them to bounce back pretty well.”
Spencer said the Roos boasted a near full-strength contingent, even enjoying a selection dilemma with himself, Mathew Fraser and Leigh McColl all in line for selection.
The Roos co-coach said he was looking for big performances from team of the year duo Jarrod Turner and Cayden Winter.
“We need a big performance from everyone, but those two give us plenty of drive,” he said.
“We know we can kick a score against them, but we can’t let them have anything easy or they’ll cut us up.”
